PARADE RULES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS
*You must read these rules before entering the parade. Everyone participating in this parade (drivers, riders and walkers), must read or be made clear on all of these rules and
instructions.
NO CANDY OR ANY OTHER ITEMS MAY BE THROWN BY ANYONE, items may be handed out (not thrown) by walkers along the sides of the parade route. Violators risk being removed from the parade immediately and the unit denied entry in future parades. All unit leaders, coaches, and advisors must make it clear to their people that this type of activity is dangerous and completely unacceptable.
Special permission must be obtained before parade day, for any unit intending to perform or entertain with any irregular driving techniques or impromptu displays while on the parade route. Please contact the Parade Director for approval of your routine or performances.
Sports/Athletic groups are required to walk the 1 mile parade route with one small support vehicle allowed for injured or otherwise incapacitated team members.
Commercial entries are limited to one full size “company” vehicle with or w/out a trailer and one “miniature/toy" vehicle.
Emergency services agencies are limited to two full size vehicles and one miniature/toy vehicle.
No semi’s or tractor trailer rigs are permitted.
All vehicle drivers are required to abide by all Ohio Motor Vehicle laws and traffic rules. This includes holding a valid operator’s license and carrying the required Ohio insurance coverages.
All drivers are required to have a clear view and maintain constant observation of all sides of their unit. If any view of these areas is obstructed by accessories, decorations etc, adult supervision must be posted at each corner of the unit, to insure no one or anything is run over.
No riders are permitted on tractors without cabs.
No rider is to be standing up on any type of unit without a secured handhold available.
No one is to jump off of or onto a moving parade unit.
Stay approximately 25 feet behind the unit you are following.
Keep your unit moving with the parade or as instructed by a Parade Marshal or law enforcement officer.
MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR TO YOUR DRIVER AND RIDERS: After passing the track Grandstand viewing area DO NOT STOP YOUR UNIT OR UNLOAD until you are outside the south gate or have rounded the curve to the back straight away. WE MUST KEEP THE REST OF THE PARADE BEHIND YOU MOVING.
Then and only then, on the back straight away, park along the side rails of the track allowing all other units still moving an open lane to pass by.
Entries may be brought in to the staging area anytime after 12:00 Noon on Parade Day.
Contact a Parade Marshal for assistance in locating your proper parking spot.
Floats entered to be “Judged” need to be in place by 4:45 PM.
ALL UNITS & PERSONEL NEED TO BE IN PLACE & READY TO START BY 5:45 PM
On signal from the Parade Marshals the parade will start from N. Perry & W. Clinton at 6:00 PM.
